About this piece

A very rare bakelite and enameled metal floor lamp, designed by Harry Gitlin and manufactured by Middletown Manufacturing Company, USA, 1951.  The lamp consists of a black tubular standard and white enameled shade with bakelite turning knob.  The table version of this series is in MoMA’s permanent collection.
